Divana

With the healing powers that traditional massage promises, it is no wonder that spas, reflexology shops, massage parlours are very much ingrained in the culture of Thailand and very much part of modernised city living.  These outlets exist in practically every nook and corner of the streets of Bangkok with something designed to fit every pocket; from budget bargains to extravagant indulgence. 

We set foot in the Divana Nurture Spa located Sukhumvit Soi 11 right in the heart of Bangkok’s business district and what greeted us was an oasis of calmness, which was a huge contrast with the hustles and bustles that the capital city is known for. This feeling of tranquillity and peace is carried through in its Thai design and décor of lotus motif applied throughout even at the “Anatta”, an inner healing glass house, Arokaya; the alternative treatment room as well as the 16 fully equipped lotus-named couple therapy rooms flanking both sides of the mansion. 

Whilst sipping on the thirst-quenching freshly prepared lemongrass tea (believed to have the ability to dispel wind from the body) and cold towels to calm the sweltering heat, we were presented with a palette of scrubs for our selections. Each consisting of an interesting ingredient that had amazing healing properties. There was the rose, the black sesame, the olive and ginger, just to name a few and we liked the sound of what we heard; antioxidant, whitening, moisturising so much so that we felt how divine that would be if we could have all of them infused into a single scrub and slathered all over our body. 

The 120 minutes pampering experience came to an end all too soon but it left me with a revitalised mind and a relaxed body free of tension and stress. Back at the reception, I was pleasantly surprised with a serving of “perk me up” fresh fruit platter consisting of bananas and pineapples accompanied with a cup of soothing hot tea for instant rehydration.
