Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei, opened in 1994 as Shangri-La’s first property in Taiwan and the tallest hotel in the capital city. The hotel, which soars 43 stories above Tun-Nan’s flourishing business district, is conveniently located five minutes from the Taipei World Trade Convention and Exhibition Center, 15 minutes from Taipei Songshan Airport, and 45 minutes from Taoyuan International Airport. Two Mass Rapid Transit stops are located within walking distance, while a main bus stop is right outside the hotel. Extensive shopping and entertainment facilities are nearby.
The hotel completed a NT$ 1.5 billion renovation program in 2015, upgrading all 420 guestrooms and suites, the Horizon Club Lounge, lobby, driveway as well as Lobby Court and The Cake Room. Custom artwork created for the property includes “Along the River during the Qing Ming Festival”, an installation depicting the ancient capital of Kaifeng by famous Taiwanese artist Shen Cheen. It stretches across two silk scrolls, each measuring 7.2 by 1.68 meters and frames the reception area.
Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei consists of 420 exquisitely appointed guestrooms, including 37 suites, all with picturesque views of the Taipei skyline, with some showcasing Taipei 101. With the concept of eternal elegance inspired by the Song Dynasty, the renovation captures the low-profile glamour and highlights the utmost spirit of Shangri-La’s hospitality with new touches in details. Most of the rooms have window-side sitting areas to create a homey relaxation space.
The hotel offers guests world-class gourmet dining with five exquisite restaurants and three uniquely styled lounges, including Shanghai Pavilion (39F, specialties from Shanghai, Taiwan and Sichuan cuisine), Marco Polo Restaurant (38F, modern Italian), ibuki (7F, Japanese Teppanyaki, Kaiseki, Sushi and Tempura), Shang Palace (6F, Cantonese) and Café at Far Eastern (6F, all-day dining and buffet). As well as Marco Polo Lounge (38F afternoon tea, creative cocktails and live performance with views), Lobby Court (1F, live performance and gins), and Li Bai Bar (6F, whiskies and wines).
The hotel’s most unique feature is its outdoor rooftop infinity pool (43rd floor), offering a stunning panoramic view of the entire city surrounded by mountains, including the iconic Taipei 101.
