The Taiwan Tourism Administration KL Office officially launched its 2024 campaign, "Jom Taiwan: Ride the Adventure," in collaboration with renowned Malaysian artist Book of Lai, who brings his creativity to the public transportation system in Kuala Lumpur, creating an immersive journey showcasing the allure of Taiwan.
Mr. Chou Shih-Pi, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration KL Office, stated that to attract Malaysian travelers to choose Taiwan as their top destination by the end of 2024, the Taiwan Tourism Administration invited Book of Lai, a famous Malaysian illustrator known for his vibrant colors, unique fantasy storytelling style, and inspiration from the mobile home culture, to design the "Jom Taiwan: Ride the Adventure" themed advertisements. These ads will be featured on the Kuala Lumpur Monorail and the bustling Bukit Bintang MRT station, with four themes: "Jom Taiwan Makan-makan" (food), "Jom Taiwan Lihat-lihat" (sightseeing), "Jom Taiwan Main-main" (fun activities), and "Jom Taiwan Rasa-rasa" (culture). The ads showcase Taiwan’s culinary delights, scenic landscapes, fun attractions, and cultural experiences, allowing Malaysians to feel the charm of Taiwan even during their daily commutes, sparking excitement and anticipation for travel to Taiwan.
Reflecting on the creative process, Book of Lai shared: “Taiwan has always been one of my favorite travel destinations. In addition to enjoying leisurely trips, I love visiting cultural and creative parks to seek inspiration for my designs.” This time, Lai has infused his impressions of Taiwan into his artwork, featuring the Breezy Blue train traveling through a bubble tea tunnel, a beef noodle slide, a forest of fried chicken cutlets, and mountains of soup dumplings. He invites Malaysian travelers to explore Taiwan’s hydrangea gardens, urban landscapes, outdoor activities, night markets, and the Sky Lantern Festival. Lai also incorporated characters representing Malaysia’s three major ethnic groups alongside his signature tiny mobile home, encouraging travelers to feel Taiwan’s warmth and hospitality and to personally experience the beauty of Taiwan.
To attract Muslim friends from around the world to experience Taiwan’s beauty, Taiwan continues to enhance its Muslim-friendly facilities. Major transportation hubs and national scenic areas are equipped with Muslim-friendly services, and over 400 restaurants and hotels have received Halal certification. As a result, according to Mastercard’s 2024 "Crescent Rating – Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI)", Taiwan has ranked as the 3rd best non-OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) destination, showcasing its friendliness and respect for Muslim travelers.
Deputy Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia Mr. James Bu, remarked: "In May this year, the Taiwan Tourism Administration launched the 'Taiwan – Waves
of Wonder' branding 3.0 campaign, aimed at promoting tourism through the themes of “Embrace the Mountains, Enjoy the Sea, and Explore the Island”. From January to May this year, over 200,000 Malaysian tourists visited Taiwan, a growth of nearly 20% compared to the same period last year. With the 'Jom Taiwan: Ride the Adventure' campaign, we aim to use whimsical illustrations to showcase Taiwan’s food, attractions, and culture, and invite Malaysians to experience Taiwan’s warmth and hospitality."
In conjunction with the 'Jom Taiwan: Ride the Adventure' themed advertisements, the Taiwan Tourism Administration KL Office has also launched a "What Type of Traveler Are You?" quiz. Participants can discover their ideal Taiwan travel style and stand a chance to win round-trip tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Taiwan and other great prizes by leaving their contact information.
Today's launch event also featured Jack Tan, a famous actor from the film "Abang Adik," and Malaysian Muslim actress Soffwany Yusoff shared their impressions of Taiwan and fun anecdotes from their travels.
