On 5thDecember 2020, Jungfrau Railways inaugurated the brand new Eiger Express as part of the second and final phase of the impressive lift project V-Cableway. The new express will take guests from Grindelwald to the Eiger Glacier station in just 15 minutes, and guests will be on the Jungfraujoch –Top of Europe and on the slopes 47 minutes faster than before.
The V-Cableway project consists of two gondola lifts from Grindelwald to the mountains Männlichen and Eigergletscher. With 44 gondolas and 26 seats each, the Eiger Express can transport 2,200 passengers every hour.
With the new lift project, visitors can travel by public transport much faster than before from several of Switzerland’s major cities to both Jungfraujoch and Eigergletscher (ski slopes).
The village of Grindelwald is located at the foot of the mountain Eiger and Wetterhorn and is the largest ski resort in the Jungfrau Region. During winter, guests can explore the various slopes in the Jungfrau region, while enjoying nature along the many hiking trails in summer.
The Jungfrau Ski Region area has a total of 206 km of slopes – including Lauberhorn, which hosts the World Cup in alpine skiing every year in January. At the same time, there are 300 km of scenic hiking trails, of which 80 km can also be explored during the winter months.
