With the RMCO extended till year end, it’s time to explore Malaysia and in particular, Sarawak. Situated in the East of Malaysia, Sarawak is unique in so many ways, creating unforgettable memories for you and your loved ones, without leaving Malaysia.
The first stop you should stop by at Sarawak is its capital — Kuching. After exploring the city, get away and discover a new perspective by staying at Kampung Annah Rais, a Bidayuh settlement located 100km south of Kuching.
The Bidayuh community makes up roughly 8% of the population in Sarawak; so staying there will open your eyes to see how unique and diverse Malaysia is. During your stay there, you are encouraged to participate in community-driven activities such as trekking to the nearby Three-Tier Waterfall and natural hot springs.
The journey from Kuching to gold mining town, Bau, takes 45 minutes to an hour. At Bau, visit the Fairy Cave and you will stumble on an impressive experience. Fairy Cave is just a few minutes' drive to another show cave, Wind Cave, hence most tourists would combine both visits on a half-day trip from Kuching.
Another bucket list that must be completed during your visit to Sarawak is to drop by the Bario Highlands, a Kelabit territory appropriately named “The Land of a Thousand Handshakes” because of its local’s friendliness.
Last but no least, you should try all Sarawak local dishes such as Sarawak Laksa, Bambo Chicken (Ayam Pansuh), Kolok Mee, Kek Lapis, Linut & Kacangma etc.
