NUO Hotel Beijing served as the Official Hotel Partner to British Polo Day (BPD) China on Sunday, as the British Polo Day Global Series returned to Beijing for the seventh time at Tang Polo Club. The Chinese luxury hotel group played an integral role in staging this spectacular event, alongside partner brands that included RJI Capital, Chelsea Barracks, Royal Salute, Vista Jet, and Hublot.
NUO Hotel Beijing deployed its team of world-class culinary professionals, headed by the founding chef and Director of Operations Food & Beverage Nikolaos Lekkas, to create sumptuous, multi-course catering fit for the occasion and the 'sport of kings', helping to celebrate superb amateur polo sportsmanship that highlighted the historical ties between China and Great Britain.
The hotel's sponsorship of the event also provided exclusive accommodation for the BPD's select group of distinguished VIP guests, including members of the nobility and high society, celebrities, business titans, food connoisseurs and luminaries from the worlds of fashion and entertainment.
The tournament, graciously hosted by the owner of Tang Polo Club and China's most esteemed polo player, Shilai Liu, attracted over 200 distinguished guests, including a host of China business elites.
The event opened with a Perrier-Jouet Champagne reception before guests and players ventured towards the polo field for the afternoon's sporting action. The five competing teams were RJI Capital British Schools, NUO Axus-Fast Fish, Chelsea Barracks British Exiles, VistaJet Tang Polo Club and Royal Salute Destination Imagination (DI). After a few tight and thrilling battles, DI and British Schools won their respective matches, securing the Chelsea Barracks Dynasty Plate and the VistaJet Tang Cup respectively.
As is the polo tradition, the Best Playing Pony award went to Shilai Liu's gorgeous mare, presented by NUO Hotel Beijing's General Manager Adrian Rudin.
