Through the “One Day in Taiwan” event, 80 Malaysian artists, YouTubers, influencers, media and tourism organizations had a fun hands-on experiences to DIY chocolate filled Taiwanese Dumpling ( Xiao Long Bao) and painting on the traditional oil-paper umbrella, expand their understanding of Taiwan’s diverse tourism offerings.

One Day in Taiwan Event was successful held at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur Hotel on 21st November 2019 (Thursday). Taiwan Visitors Association together with related tourism organizations from Taiwan brought along famous Taiwanese cuisines, popular destinations, diverse culture activities and year 2020’s hottest tourism information to share with Malaysian media and tourism organizations, to promote Taiwan’s diverse tourism.

Guests proudly presented their DIY creative Taiwanese dumpling and oil-paper umbrella artwork.

Taiwan Visitors Association Kuala Lumpur Office Director, Abe Chou on his welcoming speech encouraged travellers to visit Taiwan and explore its beauty . The highlight of the event included DIY creative “Xiao Long Bao” and painting on oil-paper umbrellas.

Guests listened attentively on the method on how to fold the “Xiao Long Bao” and finally come out with their own creation. Through this DIY section, guests had a deeper touch on Taiwanese cuisine and its culture.

During the event, Taiwan Visitors Association brought along the master of traditional oil-paper umbrella from Taiwan to show guests how to paint their favorite pattern on this traditional umbrella.  Oil-paper umbrella craftsmanship is part of Hakka traditional in Meinong District in southern Taiwan’s Kaohsiung City and was widely used as traditional wedding gifts. The words “oild paper” and “have son” are homonyms in Hakka language. Also, as the Chinese character of “umbrella” contains five copies of the character for “person”, they also present a blessing for the couple to have many children and grandchildren.

Bubble Tea origins from Taiwan is now a hit worldwide. The Bubble Tea decoration theme made guests feel like they are in Taiwan. Besides, the event organizer also prepared online games and bingo games to let guests learn more about different attraction in Taiwan. The winners of both the online game and bingo game happily walked away KL-Taipei returned tickets.

Taiwan is a place with rich traveling resources which gained the international recognition. Globe Spots listed Taiwan as No.8 in 2019 Top 10 Travel Destinations. Booking.com listed Taiwan as world’s most friendly country in 2018 while Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) ranked Taiwan 3rd most attractive country, proving that Taiwan is a place that the international travelers, especially Muslim travelers should not miss.
